How Do I Convince My Husband To Let Me Use The Fertility Awareness Method?

posted by:

I will not use hormonal birth control anymore due to the side effects and overall bad health that hormones cause. The Fertility Awareness Method, where you track your basal temperature, cervical mucus, and cervical position has been shown to have nearly the same effectiveness rate as the pill at about 99.3%. My husband does not trust it. How do I convince him that it is okay?
We are fully prepared to take care of a child if that were to happen, but aren’t actively trying to conceive for another year or so.

provide him with literature and information that details the harmful side effects to women caused by artificial contraceptives. If your husband loves and respects you, he will read that information, and take it to heart.
Also, Natural Birth Control fosters intimacy and mutual respect, and actually enhances lovemaking.

I got my husband to agree simply by using it. However, I am using it to conceive. But, maybe you could try to explain to him that the pill and patch, etc makes you sick (as it does to me) and that the condoms are very uncomfortable and hurt you. Tell him to imagine sticking his penis in a small rubber balloon but going in and out and in an d out without any lubrication, it wouldnt feel to good would it? You can tell him that I use this method and its been effective for me for 8 years, but now we are reversing it and ttc. Another thing is when you do decide to start a family, its harder with all of those hormones in your system and those hormones can actually cause cancer and breast cancer, etc. And even those hormones that ruin your body are not fool proof. Good luck

    I don’t trust it either.
If its a matter of hoping not to conceive for a year, I’d be willing to run with timing + withdrawal.

    What’s wrong with condoms?

If your doctor has explained this method to him and he isn’t comfortable with it, use condoms. It’s not fair for him to worry over it.

Just do it and see what happens.

sounds like he really does not want to get pregnant,, take him with you to the gyno. and talk it out with the proffessional.. maybe he doesnt trust you and your interpretation of the information..

Just use it and also get some of that spermicide stuff at the drugstore that you use before the act.
