Nitric Oxide Deficient Blood Transfusions. Any Help For That Deficiency?

posted by:

My dad is getting blood transfusions for anemia. I think it’s aplastic anemia, but I’m not sure. He has to get them every 4 to 6 weeks. Decided against the Aranesp. Apparently blood given for transfusion is deficient in nitric oxide. Does anyone know of any natural means to encourage nitric oxide production in the body? Exercise? Deep breathing? Supplements? I kind of assume there’s no medication, but if there is I would be interested in knowing about it, though I couldn’t be much more jaded about medication (because of the side effects) than I already am. Excuse me if this sounds ridiculous in any way, but I don’t know anything about this, so… that’s why I’m askin’! Thanks very much.

The paper which described the lack of nitrous oxide in stored or banked blood is a new finding. You should not worry about the lack of nitrous oxide too much. Nitrous oxide is made in the body normally and facilitates a number of processes. When banked blood is given, although it is deficient in nitrous oxide it is being diluted by a larger volume of the patients own blood supply. Unless something impedes the normal production of nitrous oxide, there should be ample supply to augment the lack of nitrous oxide in the transfused blood.

  2. GNC supplies a brand of product developed by MRI institute. Its called NO2, and works by slowly releasing Nitrous Oxide into the blood stream. I use it to help me hemodulate my blood vessels. Its a good all around supplement as well. I have never been so healthy as I was when i was on it. Peace out!

The idiots trying to answer this question don’t even know the difference between nitric and nitrous oxide ! There is an excellent article on nitric oxide in the Nov 2007 issue of Anesthesiology magazine, pp 822-842.

If he’s low on Nitric Oxide, have him try some L-Arginine. It’s a natural Amino Acid that helps to produce Nitric Oxide in the body. L-Citruline also does this, but it’s more expensive, often in combinations, and typically more for sexual health…. and I doubt you’d like to think about your dad getting that ;-)

A new FDA Cleared device has over 25 peer-reviewed scientific publication supporting the up-regulation of nitric oxide. It is called the Exer-Rest. Approved intended uses are: Temporarily increasing local circulation, relieving minor aches and pains, providing muscle relaxation and reducing morning stiffness.
