Well im autisc and im high functioning and well if you rly want to help kids like me then you make me happy lol. my mum was a Special ed teacher. all you hav to do is go to Tafe its easy just fill out the form that you want to do and its a 3 year corse

I am not from Virgina. But, I am a special education teacher, that teaches autism. I would just contact your local college and ask them what you would need for certification. In my state (IL) I just have to have my certification in special education, no special certificate for autism. Good Luck to you. You have chosen a very rewarding and challenging career.

I went to University of Phoenix Online and graduated with a Cross Categorical MA in Special Ed. Before that, I had a BA in Communication, so I needed 43 more credits to get my MA. It had its pros and cons. I could do my homework when it was convenient and I did not have to worry about child care. However, it was kind of a pain in the butt getting a degree from a state that I did not live in because of all the paperwork and red tape stuff I had to do in order to get my teaching cert. in the state I live in.
