Any Advice For Newly Diagnosed Sufferer Or Rheumatiod Arthiritis?

I am a 26yr old female and I was diagnosed with the disease 3 days ago. I get mild flare ups in my wrists and fingers but very reactive to painkillers (Nurofen) and that was between Sept and Nov last yr. Not had anything sicne then and I have been drinking a glass of milk everyday for past 3 months. Doctor checked my joints and said that they were fine but my blood test showed that the disease is active in my body.

Thing is my mum died of aplastic anemia when I was 2 as a result of taking gold injections to treat her arthritis. So you can imagine my intial shock when the docotr told me. I guess on a comforting note, medicine has advanced alot of the past 25 yrs so I guess I have that on my side. My moto is attack the disease before it attacks me and I am a frim beliver that you are what you eat therefore I am hoping I can control this with my diet as well as medication to keep the disease at bay.

So i guess my question is can I still lead a normal life by making changes where necessary??
I am a vegetarian who rarley eats eggs (eat them once in a blue moon), I drink only socially so like once or twice a month. I dont eat meat. I have 5 portions of fruit and veg everyday as well as almonds. I am also Vitamin B12 deficient and Iron (Ferrtin) deficient.
I am 5 ft 1 and 12 stone so need to lose weight. i have recently taken up running which makes me feel so good and weights and spin class. I really want to continue with these as I need to lose weight.
I have heard that excercsie especially running is meant to be good. I have even read some people have gone into remision with dietry changes and leading active lifestyles.

So I guess my questions are 1) can I continue running 2) can I avoid taking steroids 3) Can I still conceive? 4) what foods should I eat/Avoid?

Which Of These Should I Write About For My College Admissions Essay?

I am answering this question:
A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
I’m an ex child star, so I was thinking that I could write about a bunch of “experiences” I have had…like..when I had to join a circus to hide from my dad’s psychotic cellmate…and when I developed aplastic anemia and almost died….and when I was lost in the middle of the Atlantic after the captain of my boat committed suicide and shot a hole in the boat so I would die too, but then i was miraculously rescued by a cruise ship….haha, but then at the end say something about how I’m an actress. =D

I could talk about the “people skills” I have developed from starting out in the professional world at the young age 3 and staying with it until I was about 14. …while also moving around from ca to ny to fl to va. Ive never been to the same high school twice, but since I’m so skilled at handling new situations and new people, its very easy for me to adjust and make friends, etc. ….and also, I have lived in every different cultural world of the US…..the south, the east coast, the west coast, the north, northeast…..and ive traveled to just about every state, so I’m very well rounded in that department.
OH GOODNESS! IDK…if both of these suck, let me know. :) Do you have any ideas or suggestions 4 me? ANYTHING is appreciated as this is due in a few hours. (I know I’m a procrastinator. lol)

Does Anyone Think That Todd Could Have…and That Is What Tea Is Hiding?

Does anyone think that Todd could have stage the death of Brendan (he died at birth) the child the Blair had with Patrick Thornhart? He would be younger then Starr I believe but they might age him to older remember he was the baby that when Starr diagnosed with aplastic anemia and needed a bone marrow transplant the baby was going to be a match but after he died Alex Olanov was able to be a match. Anyway Todd had the hole baby switch thing down and he is evil enough to do something like that plus he walked in on Blair and Patrick when they thought he was died, this mad him mad and he was going to kidnap Starr then too and Blair was in a Coma because of the car accident that Kelly Cramer cause. Tea was married to Todd )because he paid her off) during this time and she would know the truth and that is what she is hiding???

I don’t know I am just trying to piece the truth together with what has been written in the past.

What Is A Good Number For Your Blood Count?

I had my finger pricked today when I went to my ob gyn for my yearly, and was told that my iron is very low, my # is an 8, they put my on iron pills and told me to have it checked again in a month. What is a good # and should I be concerned, my grandmother died from aplastic anemia. I also suffer from high cholesterol 204 triglycerides are 379 and this is after being on medication for 2 months. My height is 5’9″ weight is 153 should I contact my general doctor about my blood count

I Gave My Baby Up For Adoption 2 Years Ago. It Was An Open Adoption With My Now Ex Sister In Law.?

We were getting along then she got mean. In the adoption papers it said I was entitled to visitation and photos. Thats why it was open. She had aplastic anemia so I wanted to give her a chance of being a mother.Is there any thing I can do to force the visitations and photos? I would have never done it but I loved her then she turned on me. My baby is two now and I only held her once, when she was first born. What can I do? Is this legal?

Something To Be Aware Of If You Want To Get A Ferret Please Read!?

Experienced ferret owners will allready know this, but It is surprising that not many people do, I didnt before I looked into getting a ferret.
I wanted to write this for people to help in someway!
All ferrets should be fixed before they reach sexual maturity as this will drastically reduce their odour (IT GOT RID OF MY BOYS ODOURS!) and it will extend their lives.
*IMPORTANT*
Female ferrets go into heat in their first spring (generally in February) and they will remain in season until successfully mated. If mating does not occur, the females will succumb to aplastic anemia and die a most painful death. You will greatly increase your female ferret’s life span if you have her fixed before this should happen.

Optrex Drops (chloramphenical) Side Effects Question?

I took some of these eye drops last nite for the first time. i had been fine all day apart from my eyes feeling a bit like pink eye, i didnt feel like i was under the weather or coming down with anything, and was fine up until 15-20 minutes after i took the drops. suddenly, i became very dizzy, it freaked me out. then i started shivvering badly even though i was in bed with an electric blanket. the dizziness lasted about an hour and a half, was at its worst when it peaked, which was almost immediately, then slowly it settled along with the shivvering (the shivvering settled first).
I looked online and all i could find was this could be a possible allergic reaction to the drops or something about aplastic anemia, have no idea what this is, or possibly a counter reaction to having taken some herbal remedies though nothing specific is listed.
Has anyone heard of these eye drops causing such a reaction or other nasty reactions? i mean, it may not have been the drops, but then it seems such a coincidence that I was fine up until just after I took them, then ok 2 hours later.
any info would be appreciated, cheers

Nitric Oxide Deficient Blood Transfusions. Any Help For That Deficiency?

My dad is getting blood transfusions for anemia. I think it’s aplastic anemia, but I’m not sure. He has to get them every 4 to 6 weeks. Decided against the Aranesp. Apparently blood given for transfusion is deficient in nitric oxide. Does anyone know of any natural means to encourage nitric oxide production in the body? Exercise? Deep breathing? Supplements? I kind of assume there’s no medication, but if there is I would be interested in knowing about it, though I couldn’t be much more jaded about medication (because of the side effects) than I already am. Excuse me if this sounds ridiculous in any way, but I don’t know anything about this, so… that’s why I’m askin’! Thanks very much.

I've Got A Problem, Kind Of.?

for as long as i can remember, my mom abused me pretty badly. also, most people in my school aren’t very fond of me. i have usually no friends. people consider me a freak or emo or w/e. but that’s because since november of ’06, i’ve been cutting myself on my lower back, stomach, and wrist. i also sometimes go a day or so without eating anything, b/c my mother thinks i am overweight. and when i do eat, i sometimes puke it all back. also, i’ve recently developed Anemia, which is bad b/c i had Blackfan Diamond Aplastic Anemia on the first 4 years of my life, and was on the fringe of death. so that might repeat.
anyways, i’m just scared about all of that. i know, i’m kind of a freak…. but please don’t remind me…

A Genetics/medical Question?

A year ago, my wife had major surgery. Before and during recuperation, they made all sorts of tests, and stored the data in the hospital’s, or some other, data bank.
We have now been contacted by the hospital, asking her if she would consider donating bone marrow to someone suffering from aplastic anemia (spelling?), who will die without it. I don’t know if is related to the fact that my wife has the rarest blood-type in the world, but a bit more common to her ethnic group.
So, my first question: What are the odds (for example, a million-to-one, or a thousand-to-one, or whatever) of two people being a perfect or suitable match for marrow-donation? I know that it is best between identical twins. Thanks!

Is My Ferret Pregnant?

I know this question has been asked here before but mine is a bit different.
You see, I bought my ferrets from someone who couldn’t keep them anymore. He told me that they were descended, neutered/spayed, and brother and sister.
On the ride home we stopped at the nearest Petco to ask if they could tell if they were neutered/spayed. They said when we got them home we should check for a small tattoo in their ears. (We couldn’t check at the store because both the ferrets were very scared and hyper so we didn’t want to take them out)
Upon bringing them home we checked but saw no sign of the tattoo. We decided to leave them alone for now and assuming they would not mate being brother and sister. We later found out that it doesn’t matter to them if they are because they can’t tell and will end up mating anyway.
A few months ago I posted a question about ferrets mating because I thought my male ferret was trying to hurt my female one but then I found out they were actually mating. I read that the females need to be bread in order to not get aplastic anemia so I decided to see where it took me.
About 4 or 5 weeks ago I started to notice that my female ferret was sleeping more than usual and was getting much fatter. She has always been much smaller than the male and hadn’t been gaining any weight no matter what we did to try and fatten her. (Because they had been underfed at their old home)
I can’t tell if this is a sign that she is pregnant. If she is, is there a way for me to know for sure since I don’t know the exact date that she would have gotten pregnant?
And, if she is, does the male need to be separated now, or can he wait until just before she is about to give birth?
The vets office wants to charge me $70 dollars just to see one of them and I don’t have a job right now so please don’t say “Bring her to the vet.”
I could really use some good advice on this.
