Aplastic anemia caused by spleen and bone marrow disfunction /Spleen reduction and bone marrow transplantation

17 year old boy has Aplastic anemia caused by spleen and bone marrow disfunction.
And doctors said that he needs Spleen reduction and bone marrow transplantation.
How much will it cost? and where is the best hospitals for that?

Any large urban medical center that has a transplant unit should be able to do it. One good one is University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA. They have a transplant unit that does all kinds of organ transplants including hearts, so a bone marrow transplant done by injection should be easily possible. It requires a lengthy hospital stay for the entire procedure, so the cost will be very high. Google UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh,PA for numerous site given.

What type of viral hepatides accounts for most cases of aplastic anemia?

And what are the demographics of the typical patient?

Unless something came out yesterday, there has never been an association between hepatitis and aplastic anemia.

The only thing that I remember some years back was the side-effect of hepatitis A and a concurrent bacterial infection resulting in aplastic anemia, though serology proved that the hepatitis was not the cause.

I’d like to know the answer to this myself (including references).

What are the chances of a 13 year old girl having breast cancer?

I am 13 and will be 14 in exactly 20 days. I am above average as far as my chest size. For the past few days, I have been experiencing some very bad pain in one of my breasts. I have talked to my mom about it, but she said it may just be a briuse from working out in P.E. She told me that if the pain persists, she will set up a doctor's appointment. Niether one of us has open expressed the possibility of it being breast cancer but I have thought about it. Maybe I am just ill informed as to what breast cancer is and I shouldn't be worrying, please help.

Given that your breasts are growing right now, the pain you're feeling is probably perfectly normal. I'm glad your mom set up an appointment, though. I think it's always better to be safe than sorry.

The chances of you having breast cancer at your age are very, very, very slim. So slim that, if you were my daughter, I wouldn't be worried about it one bit.

I hope that helps and "Happy Birthday".

Breast Cancer : How long and how much for the hormone treatment?

Hi,
My wife is 32 and has a breast cancer stage 2A no lymph nodes involved. She is ER(estrogen) positive and PR low positive. We are going to meet the oncologist tomorrow.

We heard that some people in similar case have to take hormone treatment for at least 5 years after Chemotherapy and some other people get injections.

Are we going to have to pay for any of these and how long is usually the treatment?

Thanks for your comment.

First of all, I want to tell you how sorry I am for your situation…I hate bc…it runs in my family and it really irritates me.

A few months ago my grandma had a malignant tumor in both of her breasts and had a double mastectomy…she had no lymph nodes involved;she has HER2+ bc and is on tamoxifen daily, and takes Herceptin intravenously every three weeks (she has to do that for a year).

I don't know what type of insurance you have, so I can't really tell you about the costs.

I hope everything goes well at the oncologist tomorrow. In any case, one organization that can offer both you and your wife a lot of help and support is the American Cancer Society…I've been volunteering with them for years and they do a world of good. They can provide you with disease and treatment information, they can hook you up with a support group…and they also have a couple of really good programs for bc patients—"Reach to Recovery" and "Look Good Feel Better"–their website is www.cancer.org

I wish both you and your wife the best!

I am looking to work for enviornmental awareness in my community?

I am looking to use my teaching skills to do something in my community for enviornmental awareness, since enviornmentalism is a joke here. My school does not allow me to fulfill this passion. All we have here in terms of awareness in this community is a state park, but that focuses more on history. I'm thinking I'd have to start up something, any ideas and how to go about it?

there are national and international organizations that can provide literature and materials for you about how best to proceed. one of the nice things about using information from groups like this is that it adds credibility to your voice: not that you're not credible by yourself, mind you, but that others worldwide are active and interested in these causes. also, it will feel good for you to know that someone 'has your back', so to speak.

i applaud your determination in pursuing this avenue. it's not easy to start from scratch. and if you feel you're in it 'alone' it can be a bit unsettling to say the least. it's good to find a partner, or at least a supporter locally, to help you with logistics, newsletters, printing, and publicity.

have faith: there are people in your community who are 'silently' waiting for someone to act. they WILL come out to assist you. whether it's an adopt a highway program (call your state highway department and ask), a river or creek cleanup, or an educational campaign run out of your own garage, supporters are there just waiting to be mobilized. have you considered starting an urban garden on a public plot of land? ask your local city officials what exactly is required… people will come out to see 'what you're doing, especially those who live nearby.

here are a few links from some organizations that might be helpful… also if there are any local independent bookstores or coffeehouses in your area, they are often like – minded and can at least provide a chance for you to help 'spread the green news'. best wishes and good luck!

How do you make the distinction between normal awareness of heart beat and heart palpitations?

Heart palpitations are the irregular awareness of the heart beating. You dont have to necesarilly have an irregular, fast, or slow heart beat to have palpitations.

So how does one make the distinction between a normal awareness of heart beat and an "irregular awareness" of heart beat? aka palpitations.

I know that many people are able to feel their heart beating while at rest and this is considered normal. So why are those people not labeled as having "palpitations" ?

If you can actually FEEL your heart beating in your chest you are having palpitations. Point Blank Period

Recently i have noticed a lump in my breast like on the left side of my nipple. It has never been there before and i am fraking out that i have breast cancer. Please help me.

thats normal
when your young like 15, you may notice your breasts are lumpy, its just because they are growing
if i was you i wouldnt be too worried but maybe if you go to the doctor they can tell you for sure
but i doubt you have breast cancer
dont worry, its just puberty and hormones that make breasts kind of lumpy
