Increasing Awareness With a Breast Cancer Bracelet

Breast cancer continues to affect millions of people worldwide – plunging newly diagnosed sufferers and their families into the bewildering world of treatment plans and statistics on a daily basis.

This year alone, over one-million people worldwide will be unwillingly inducted into this club of warriors. And strong in numbers, these sufferers and their families will continue to affect change in the landscape of awareness and treatment; part of the way in which they raise awareness is through the wearing of merchandise, including the breast cancer bracelet.
The breast cancer bracelet can attribute its beginnings to the awareness campaign, where the pink ribbon first became the symbol in the united fight. The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation – which began in the early 1980s as a way to funnel comprehensive information to victims and raise money for research – began using the pink ribbon in the early years of its Race for the Cure, the annual run/walk fundraising event that is the signature event of this foundation.
The early beginnings of the pink ribbon were brought to the forefront as Self magazine planned their second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month issue in the early 1990s. In this effort, the magazine partnered with Estee Lauder to create the looped pink ribbon we have now come to recognize; over a million of which were distributed at makeup counters around the country to coincide with the distribution of the magazine. The ribbon included instructions on self examination and information on how to petition Washington to increase funds for research. The color pink was chosen because of its strong association with femininity.
With the growing popularity of the pink ribbon, came the further development of other pink items to signify awareness. The items have since come fast and furious – from t-shirts and pins, to umbrellas and mugs. The breast cancer bracelet, especially, has achieved enormous popularity as the message of awareness is encapsulated in a beautifully designed – and very wearable – bracelet.
The bracelet is just like any other bracelet that you would think nothing of buying and wearing; but you have the added benefit of knowing that in wearing the bracelet you are promoting awareness and, in so doing, are part of a community that is saving lives.
The bracelet comes in a variety of styles and prices – everything from pearls and crystal to silver and gold. No matter what your style or taste in jewelry, there will surely be a bracelet that draws your attention and furthers the message of awareness. In today’s online world especially, there is a growing number of websites dedicated to the sale of pink awareness merchandise.
This awareness encompasses many different things when it comes to the battle against breast cancer. Raising awareness means increasing people’s understanding of research, prevention, detection, and treatment. But more importantly, raising awareness – through the wearing of insignia such as the bracelet – means alerting those who are affected to a larger community; a community of enormous support and infinite understanding.

Bracelets, Pins and Buttons to Give Your Message

Bracelets, Pins and Buttons to Give Your Message

Wristbands, pins, and buttons, is a good option for inexpensive marketing. Its use can represent a good income for the ones who want to get funds for a cancer foundation or protectionist organizations. These items can be used as awareness campaign handouts, and at grand openings and school parties. It is very easy to put your logo and slogan in a button or a silicon bracelet.

Many colors and designs are available to all type of audience. At this time, many people can give a good impression about bracelets, specially the ones used for health and wellness awareness campaigns. Some organizations prefer the pink silicone wristbands for breast cancer awareness and light blue for prostate cancer awareness. The neat part of using bracelets is that they can be manufactured massively in many different colors. This makes a bracelet cost less than a dollar, so it is a very good reason to choose them for promotional purposes.

Political campaigns also get involved in using wristbands, pins and buttons by the way they express their convictions. Celluloid buttons range in size from one ¾ inches up to three ½ inches. Buttons can be customized with your company slogan or symbol. Retail businesses often use buttons to announce current promotions or to help people to identify their sales staff by the use of phrases like “Just Ask” or “Ask me about our 2-year warranty” This can be a good option since every unit cost about 60cents or less than that, especially if your order them at a whole sale.

Consider pins for even greater variety in shapes and styles. Ribbon shaped pins have become popular to honor causes like military services or breast cancer research. Some promotional product suppliers have the basic ribbon colors like yellow for hope, red for blood donation, and pink for breast cancer research. Other pin designs can include a trim around its border and bow-shaped designs. When ordering pins, you can also purchase custom printed pin cards to hold and display the pins. If you do so, you will be able to include your company slogan and/or logo or the message for your awareness campaign on the front cover.

Notice that people feel proud of expressing their ideas by using wristbands, pins, and buttons. In this respect, an instant and dynamic advertising is created for your business or cause.

Raising Awareness For Breast Cancer

October is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’. Regrettably few people recall this. But breast cancer is a very serious and fatal disease that can impact close to 200,000 women every just one year. A few women are fortunate enough to have the ability to beat it. However, the bulk of these woman do not have the ability to beat it off.

The only way that we can have the power to truly support these women is to show them we care for them. We have the ability to also donate money to an organisation that works on breast cancer research and a new remedytreatment. Every year the Susan G. Komen foundation puts together a 5k, 10k, marathon, and ultra marathon races. Thousands of cancer survivors and relatives of cancer patients come together and show their support.

There are a few women that are not able to make it to these races because they are not in the region and have no way of getting to it. Others have the ability to go to these races – but still desire to do more. If you have this want than you should consider putting together a breast cancer fundraiser.

You can display your support in your hometown and bring women of all ages together by having a fundraiser. During this fundraiser you can show them a bit of valuable data about what breast cancer is and how it can touch millions of women every year. Try to find a woman who is struggling with breast cancer or who has overcome it to talk to the other women. She can share her fights and implore them how crucial it is to perform regular screenings with their doctors in order to discover the cancer early in the stage.

There are lots of fundraising activities that you can have and of course there must be refreshments. The best way to raise money is to make unique items that individuals will desire to buy. You can sell pins, hats, and shirts with the symbol of breast cancer awareness on it. Or you can be constructive and create gloves, scarves, and other things that have the symbol sewn into it. All of the proceeds will go to breast cancer research.

With the assistance of friends and family you can be able to increase awareness of breast cancer to the women in your region. Help to express to them how essential it is get frequent examinations and to help and show their support to others who are afflicted by this lethal disease.

Ribbon Lapel Pins Show Support for Important Causes

by Caryn Smith

Colors send distinct messages. Subconsciously, we’ve been trained to respond in a variety of ways to practically every color of the rainbow. For instance, green is almost always associated with “go” (green lights), the coming of spring as well as freshness and also trust. Orange, according to color psychologists, denotes energy and enthusiasm. This is probably why the champions of causes chose to use colored ribbons when supporting their beliefs.

As far back as 1917, singer/songwriter George Norton penned the song, “‘Round Her Neck She Wears A Yellow Ribbon.” A revised version was later used in the movie “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon.” The words recount the tale of a young girl waiting for the return of her love who was serving in the military. In 1979, yellow ribbons saw resurgence as Penne Laingen tied this symbol around her tree when her husband, US diplomat Bruce Laingen, was held captive during the Iran hostage crisis.

But yellow isn’t the only symbol of hope. What’s the first thought that comes to mind when you see a pink ribbon? Breast cancer. In 1992, at the hands of Self magazine editor Alexandra Penney and cosmetic giant Estee Lauder, the ribbon symbol was adopted as the icon for the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign. The color pink was chosen and the new emblem was quickly adopted by the American public.

There are others as well… many others. Red was chosen as the ribbon color for Aids awareness because it represents passion. Yellow was chosen for military support because it is the official color of the U.S. Calvary. Ribbons or Lapel Pins

While many people actually purchase and cut pieces of ribbon to pin to their lapels, others have opted for a more convenient method. While cloth ribbons wear out quickly, purchasing custom ribbon lapel pins gives you a permanent piece of jewelry to wear repeatedly. Whichever option you choose, wearing awareness ribbons will show your support for immensely worthwhile causes.

Internationally – in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and other countries – ribbons have swept our awareness… just as they were meant to do. Here’s a comprehensive list of ribbon colors and what the organizations/diseases represent.
