My son is 10 years old. He was diagnosed with High-functioning Autism about 3 years ago. His doctor told us that we should tell him that he has this disorder, but i’ve put it off and put it off. I now feel like i need to tell him and his brothers about Autism, but have no idea how to explain it to them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 50 something year old friend that has an autistic brother whom my 7 year old daughter met today and promptly asked me
“Mommy, what’s autism?” How do I explain this in a way that does not dehumanize the autistic person, ie, as malfunctioning.

So, 2 Have Autism And The Others Don’t? How To Explain Or Keep Things Equal?
My oldest (not Autistic) is having difficulty understanding why he is the “responsible” one. He understands 100% what Autism is, he even says things like “Maybe the kids are allergic to something”.
